Three Shrikes and not out !!!

3 Shrikes and I'm not out!

 

I decided to give the very confiding 1st winter Red Backed Shrike at Ness Point a look, I had heard how easy it was the photograph, it certainly was, it's the most obliging bird since the Horny Artic Redpoll at Slaughden.

 

 

I checked my phone to see if the Steppe Grey Shrike was still at Burnham Norton, it was so decided to go for it, another confiding bird. All the perching sticks other photographers put in place close had just been removed by the Ranger, on the instruction's of the Land owner, so we all had to rely on natural perches, it still performed fairly well.

We just lucky as that was the last day it was seen in that area.

 

 

Then on Friday a Great Grey Shrike was found at LBO, so popped down to see it, It was a very flighty bird, but after a couple of hours it showed up quite close to me.

On Saturday popped down to give Hollesley Marshes RSPB a look, stood on the mound scanning the Scrape (which is looking great, well done Dave!!)

 when this cracking male Stonechat popped up on a bramble very close.

 

 

 

Just to end here is a very distant pic of the very pale headed common Buzzard that was first thought to be a Rough Legged Buzzard at Shingle Street on Friday morning, it was still there on Saturday.
