Well I decided to brave the rain on Friday, stayed in Island Mere hide all morning from 0800hrs, nearly had the hide to myself apart from a couple of hardy birders. I nearly decided to leave at 1300hrs, but the sun started to shine and then to my great surprise a Bittern suddenly flew and landed on top of the reeds right beside the hide and then flew straight towards me.
I AM SO GLAD I STAYED!!!!
I then left the hide to stretch my old legs and the return after about one hour, was only in the hide for 10 minutes and he appeared again and flew right past the front of the hide, giving me these great shots with sun in the perect place!!
In the morning in the pouring rain took some distant shots of Breaded tits
Then a very wet little Reed Warbler!!
A female Tufted Duck with seven ducklings
(very cute!!)
After a vert wet start it ended up yet another great day!!!
