My Rambles throughout Suffolk through my lens during February 2026
The first 2 days were wet and grim
February 3rd
Still grim but morning dry and very cold and windy, decided to give Boyton RSPB a look with the boys, whilst driving down the track towards the reserve we spotted a huge flock of finches, closer inspection revealed there were Chaffinches, Bramblings, Greenfinches, Goldfinches and Linnets, totally at least 300 birds, quite a sight!
A photo of a few of them perched, light so bad, so no pics of the flock.
Good numbers of White fronted Geese
The boys spotted these Geese at a distance with their scopes. So not a very clear image because of the distance and the awful light, a debated ensued about wether they were Pink footed or Tundra Bean Geese, Obsidentify says 67% Tundra Been and 31% Pink footed.A Red Kite flew overhead whilst we were debating the geese

Butley Priory and Snowdrops The grave in Butley of Veronica's brother who sadly died in December 1949 at a week old after 2 days of rain I decided to give East Lane a look, may be the Purple Sandpipers may be on the clay as the low tide was 08.30.
And they were feeding on the clay.
Also the sun popped out for awhile!!!!
There were several Turnstones with them.
also wash up on the beach was this packet, obviously from far away Decided to see if I could find the Hume's Leaf Warbler in Lowestoft.
A very rare Autumn or Winter visitor from Central Asian Mountain Forests.
Lighting conditions were awful, also it never sat still so very hard to photograph Also Firecrest and Goldcrest were present
Then popped to Ness Point for a female Black Redstart
Then to Kessingland beach for a Shorelark
10th February
Veronica and I went for a walk on Sutton Heath, to give Millie and us some exercise.
it was a drizzling a bit
After lunch I had a message to say that a Slavonian Grebe had been spotted Hollesley

We decided to give the Hume's Leaf Warbler another look and then to Carlton Marshes for the American Wigeon
Valentines Day
